Life
- I’m heading to a 50th birthday party for one of my high school friends this Saturday, where I will see a few of my other friends. Most people typically shed friends through adolescence and change friend groups from elementary school to middle school to high school to college to life, and yet, two of my best friends I’ve known since 1983. I recognize how unique and special this is and I can’t wait to see those lovely bastards.

Podcast
- I’ve been enjoying The Department of Midnight, an audio drama written by one of my favorite comic book writers, Warren Ellis. Apparently the sixth episode is the last for this season, which I was surprised to learn. It’s about the intersection of bleeding edge science and folklore; recommended!
Reading
- I finished Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh this past weekend and I see why it won the 2024 Hugo award for best novel as I thoroughly enjoyed it. My somewhat obsessive personality means that I reserved (and forgot that I did so) another book to read, Mal Goes To War by Ashton Edward (who also wrote Mickey7 and its sequel Antimatter Blues). I got an alert that my reserved book was ready for pickup which is what reminded me that I had checked it out so I’ll be picking it up this weekend.
- Modern Love - I’m not crying, you’re crying!
