Hey, I’m a broken record, once again falling behind on my own blog. It’s been about a month since I have done one of these, so let’s fix that.
Life
- Friday: Tried my best to sleep in before meeting my “sister” Megan and her (new-ish) Boricua beau, José, for lunch. It was great to catch up with her and to meet him. Then I rushed home, sat down for 30 minutes, then went toan 80th birthday party for the head of the Kovacs clan as a somewhat honorary family member.
- Saturday: As this was a holiday week there was lots of running around and errands to be completed this week, and basically that’s all we did the previous Saturday through Friday, so we decided NOT to do that on Saturday. It was very cold and snowy, so first we watched the boring USWNT vs ENG game (0-0), kept an eye on the U of M/Ohio State game (as Michigan may have spoiled tOSU’s National Championship aspirations), followed by the embarrassing MSU/Rutgers football game from home (they got stomped). Capped the night with a viewing of Just Friends as we make our way through Christmas movies we either haven’t seen, or have not seen in a while (Shalee hadn’t seen this one).
- Sunday: A chill morning before the looming reality of the week. Went grocery shopping and made sure our daughter was stocked up for the next two weeks as she launched into finals. Christmas will be here before we know it.
Music
- Shalee sent me this: NPR: 50 Best Albums of 2024. I know that NPR can be very esoteric, and sure, I know who Beyonce is, but other than that I recognize almost none of the artists/albums on this list. Maybe I’m just old.
- Speaking of music, I am crafting notes for my own “best of 2024” post and honestly, I have not listened to a lot of records that came out this past year. Like, four, maybe? I will have to double check bandcamp, but I feel like that number may not go up all that much.
- Good news: we scored Jack White tickets for his show in Grand Rapids! YAY!
Reading
- Just got an alert that my digital copy of Sonny Boy by Al Pacino is due to be returned in a few days, so time to put my Kindle into airplane mode so that I can finish reading it sometime in the next 1-15 months.
