One Full Year of OUR GEEK THIS WEEK!

I suspected the date was coming so I checked just a moment ago, and sure enough, yesterday, on January 21, 2025, was the one year anniversary for this blog!

How about that?

And, as boring as it was, here, once again, is my first post!

Of course, as is my wont, this stirred a bit of reflection, because I am introspective if I’m anything.

As I think I have made clear with the multiple posts decrying my inability to update this blog regularly that I wished that I had posted more. Taking stock of 2024 I see that I have really let work, but also screen time on my phone, eat up far too much of my time.

There’s a popular saying about how no one on their deathbed says, “I wish I would have worked more” but there should also be one where no one says whilst dying, “I wish I had argued with more strangers on social media and then played hours upon hours of mind-numbingly pointless games on my phone.”

I really need to be better at not doing both of those. To that end, I have been doing better at blocking people and not engaging, but I am still engaging. I must stop that.

There is time for me to write, for me to post to this blog, but I am not taking that time.

It’s a new year, so time to refocus, right? Just like I said this past summer, and fall, and winter…

But seriously, I do enjoy writing here, and I did it a fair amount last year. 120 posts in the last 12 months (yes, I have a metric for knowing how many times I have posted). I wish I had intended on making that a nice, round number, but no, it just so happened to be that way. Sure, some of the posts are just me pimping, well, me, on the podcast that I co-host with my friend Joe, but all told I averaged 10 posts a month, or about 2.3 blog posts a week.

Hmmm.

120 sounds like a lot until I see that I am only averaging two-ish a week.

So, again, I must do better.

But for $60 spent to Blot I feel like I have gotten my money’s worth, but now that I also know that I’ve basically spent 50 cents a post I feel like as someone of Dutch heritage that I can get more bang for my buck if I post more.

I’m noticing a theme here.

Hey, maybe I should post more?
