Five links that I found interesting for one reason or another
- What’s in my NOW? — Dan Dao - This speaks to me and my obsessive commercialism/materialism: “A strategy I use to curb non-essential spending is to limit it to the first 10 days in a month. For the other 20ish days I’m forced to wait and evaluate my upcoming purchases for next month.”
- What’s in my NOW? — Sam Kidd Shelton - “As I get older, I realize there are phases or chapters of life — careers, friends, homes, child rearing, you name it. Instead of being overwhelmed by what’s next, I put blinders on and lean into the now…Your career may feel stagnant or not enough, but it doesn’t mean what you’re doing now is what you’ll be doing forever. It’s all a phase, so try your best to enjoy the good bits.” Emphasis mine; I’m a sucker for a pithy insight.
- In Our Time - The Sack of Rome 1527 - I’m a well-rounded nerd, what can I say?
- Amazon Debuts the Kindle Color - I think we all knew that this was coming eventually, and I am interested in one. If I am being honest, I would like one with a larger, 10” screen. Why? I want something to read comics on that isn’t an LCD. That said, I know never to buy the first version of anything, so hopefully the next version is larger and cheaper, but we’ll see.
- NaNoWri…No - Every year I consider participating in NaNoWriMo, and in past years there have been a couple of times when I have actually decided to try it, started strong, and then petered out after maybe a week. As it’s getting close to November again I was thinking of it when I read this piece, and, yeah, NO.
High Five is a regular feature of this blog with an irregular schedule; just five links to things I found to be interesting.
