Violent Femmes Violent Femmes

On Wednesday I rectified the fact that I did not actually own this record.

My best friend in high school, Matthew, had this album on either cassette/CD and we listened to it for countless hours in his Grand Am (ahhh, the early 90s).

Because it was high school we were always hanging out and I had easy access to this album, so I never needed to buy it.

Then when I went away to college I thought about buying it but then the Femmes released Add It Up (1981-1993), which is essentially their greatest hits, so I just bought that instead.

But today listening to their debut brings me back to being 16. There are songs on here I hadn’t heard in decades.

Sometimes music is a time machine.
